Andrés Carrasco joins Wanderers Coaching Staff

The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers have today appointed experienced coach Andrés Carrasco to Tony Popovic’s coaching staff.

With a UEFA Pro Licence and enviable coaching credentials, Carrasco will add significant expertise to the Wanderers backroom staff.
 
Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas was pleased with the opportunity to bring in the experienced coach.
 
“Andrés has a fantastic pedigree and has a proven track record in the development of players that was nurtured during his 15 years with the FC Barcelona Academy,” said Tsatsimas.
 
“Andrés will bring his rich level of experience to the club and I know that he will add to the group and the culture in a very positive way.”

Carrasco began his coaching career at the famed FC Barcelona Academy from 1998 to 2011 working with age groups U8, U11, U13 and U15 before becoming Coordinator of the Football 7 department.
 
In 2011 Carrasco joined Dinamo Tbilisi in Georgia including a campaign in the UEFA Euro League before moving back to Spain to train the U17 Malaga CF Academy team winning the Spanish Championship at the end of the season.

In the following two seasons Carrasco was Academy Director in FC Saburtalo (Georgia) before joining Sabadell CF in the Second Division in Spain (Liga Adelante).
 
During his career to date he has worked with players including Barcelona’s Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets to Wanderers new recruit Andreu.
 
Carrasco said he is excited to join the Wanderers and passionate about helping develop the squad.

“My goal in this new stage is to help the team to play in the way that all the fans can be proud of,” said Carrasco.
 
“Personally I love this sport and because of my training and awareness, I love the offensive, attacking football. I firmly believe that football is a show and I like to feel the victory from this standpoint.
 
“Since I met Mr. Tsatsimas and Mr. Popovic, I could feel the great ability and dedication to the Club. That passion is the example I take as a reference and will be my engine in every minute.”
