Aritz Borda

Born in Lasarte-Oria in the province of Gipuzkoa, the Spaniard began his senior career for Real Sociedad B in 2003 and spent five years at the reserve team of the Spanish La Liga outfit.

He made 59 Segunda División B appearances in between loan spells at Universidad Pais Vasco CF (2003-2004) and Real Union (2007-2008) before moving to Athletic Bilbao in 2008.
 
Borda was capped over fifty times for Athletic before spending a further two seasons in the Segunda division with Club Deportivo Mirandés in 2010 and Recreativo in 2011.
 
Aged 27, the centre-back moved abroad for the first time in his career in 2012 when he signed for Cypriot heavyweights APOEL FC, going on to win consecutive league triumphs amongst Cup and Super Cup victories in 2013-2014.
 
Borda also featured in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League for APOEL before joining the ranks of Thai Premier League outfit Muangthong United F.C. in 2014. A brief spell with Romanian first division side FC Rapid București followed in 2015, before he returned to Spain midway through the year with Deportivo Alavés.
 
The experienced defender signed a two-year deal with the Wanderers on 5 July 2016, making his debut against Melbourne City in the Westfield FFA Cup and scored his first goal in Round 3 of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season against Newcastle Jets.
