Luck and results haven’t been on the Wanderers side in recent rounds, but head coach Markus Babbel believes it’s all about to change.

The Red & Black will travel to Newcastle on Saturday night to take on Newcastle Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium and will be looking to bounce back after a very frustrating loss against Melbourne City last week.

“If you see the boys in the last three weeks, how they work, how they work on the training pitch and the performance against Melbourne City, there are many, many things I see that are going in the right way,” said Babbel.

“We want to stop the negative run, definitely. The performance against Melbourne City was much better than against Western United and Brisbane Roar.

“I saw many positive things. If we keep going like last Friday, trust me, we will win more games than we lose.

“The results will come.”

Babbel said he admired the reaction from the players after tehy were unlucky to fall behind 2-1 against City, having taken an early lead only for the visitors to strike back wih two goals.

“I loved the reaction after we went down 2-1. We showed a great reaction to get back to 2-2,” explained Babbel.

“It was a different reaction to what we would have got last season and it is one of things I love about this side now – they want to win this game and not lose.

“We played fantastic against a very good side that plays a good style of football and has very high intensity, and are one fo the best in the league.”

Still, Babbel believes the team needs to eradicate a few mistakes that have proved costly as of late.

“We did mistakes what we were talking about during the week before Melbourne City and showed them in preparation how dangerous they are if they come behind your line,” added Babbel.

“We also created many chances against City as well, but we did not get the second one (when the Wanderers were leading 1-0).”
