Head coach Markus Babbel spoke to the media ahead of Wednesday’s FFA Cup Round of 32 match against Perth Glory.

On the ins and outs for the trip to Perth…

“It’s good, we’ve been good. With Mitch (Duke) he can’t play, something with his meniscus. Patrick Ziegler can’t, still in preparation due to his knee. Kwame is back which is good. We don’t have many players but we try to get a result in Perth.”

On the team’s ongoing improvements…

“We started on a different level because the young ones they improved a lot after the first year we worked together so we started on a different level. Our training quality is much better and our training intensity is much higher until now I am happy. Now we know we have a difficult game in front of us with the first round of the Cup, the best team last season but we go in there and try to get a result.”

On the foreigners settling in Western Sydney…

“Daniel Lopar is feeling very comfortable here and really enjoying how we work. Also Pirmin Schwegler, Rado is always getting better and better. It looks very good and still lots of work to do, of course, we are not finished now but we are heading in a good way.”

On the Red & Black’s first opponent in the FFA Cup…

“They also have a couple of changes, but we also, if you can play teams like Perth it’s perfect for us to know where we are and this is not a friendly game, it’s a cup game and we want to go to the next stage and try to do everything. After the game, we know where we are.”
