The Western Sydney Wanderers are delighted to announce that midfielder Keanu Baccus has inked a new deal that will see him at the club until the end of the 2021/22 season.

The Kings Park local began his football journey as a junior at Parklea SFC before moving to Fairfield Hotspurs.

The talented midfielder then had a brief spell at Blacktown Spartans, before switching to Blacktown City where he was called into the Wanderers Academy system.

The 2016/17 season saw Baccus make his Hyundai A-League debut in Round 13 and a stellar season with the youth team saw the youngster voted by his fellow peers as the Foxtel Y-League Player of the Year at Wanderers Medal 2017.

A number of fantastic performances followed with the 20-year-old earning consistent game time with the Hyundai A-Leauge team towards the back-end of the 2017/18 season before locking down a starting spot with the Red & Black this season.

Baccus said he was humbled by the opportunity to spend the next three years at his hometown club.

“Growing up in Western Sydney, the Wanderers are my hometown team and there’s no better feeling for me than getting onto the pitch and representing where you have come from,” said Baccus.

“It’s been a really exciting journey so far for me and I’m really looking forward to continuing to develop over the next three years at the club.

“With the new facilities and new stadium opening soon, there’s no place I’d rather be than here at the Red & Black.”

Western Sydney Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas said it was fantastic to see another Wanderers Academy graduate solidify their place in the Hyundai A-League team.

“This is an exciting signing for the club and another example of the youth of Western Sydney coming through the Academy program and representing the region at an elite level.”
