The Wanderers head into tonight’s match looking to secure their first three points of the season after a frustrating defeat on Wednesday night to their cross-city rivals Sydney FC.

Despite the result, Copus-Brown was one of the standouts in the match and believes plenty of lessons have been learnt from the team’s first hit-out.

“It wasn’t ideal, I think we’ve learnt a few things from it and we’ve tied them up over the last few days at training,” explained Copus-Brown.

“We’re really prepared for the Newcastle game.

“(On training) I’m really enjoying it, the girls have clicked so well and are getting along really well.”

The 23-year-old midfielder was a key player for the Jets last season and was at the club for seven years before making the switch to the Red & Black this season.

The match will not only mark Copus-Brown’s first clash against her former club, but the first Westfield W-League match held at the Wanderers Football Park.

“It’ll be a bit weird, but this is my club now and I’m representing what I wear on my shirt,” said Copus-Brown.

“I actually prefer playing at small stadiums as the atmosphere is a bit more intense.

“I just want to keep getting better, bring to the team whatever I can and help them win. I don’t like to lose, so Sydney was a hard game.

“But we’re prepared for this game and I’m really confident in the girls.”
