Dorrans linked up with the squad over two weeks ago after arriving from Scotland and is set to star in his first Wanderers match on Wednesday night against newcomers Macarthur Bulls.

The experienced midfielder believes it’s all about setting the tone on Match Day 1.

“We just need to be positive from the start, we’ve got a good opportunity in the coming days with the start we’ve got and we just need to go and set a marker down,” said Dorrans.

“Obviously the boys have been in for a long time, ready to go, a long pre-season for them.

“So the boys are ready to go and we’re excited for the game.

The competition’s newest team, Macarthur Bulls, will take to the pitch for the very first time on Wednesday night with Dorrans expecting it to be an exciting match.

“It’s a new game (against Macarthur), it’s new for everyone, new for the fans, new for the players so the boys are excited,” said Dorrans.

“It’s a great first game to start for us and as I said we’ll be looking to set down a marker for the rest of the season and what a game to start with.

“I mean the players love a local Derby week, the fans love it and it’s great for the club and it’s great for the full city so the boys are excited to go into the a big game like that and set the tone early doors.”
