With pre-season officially kicking off this morning, forward Mitchell Duke says he’s excited to test himself against some of Leeds United’s best next month.

You can get your tickets to the match here.

The Wanderers will be taking on the storied English football club on Saturday 20 July with Duke believing the match will be a good test for the team’s progress and development.

“There’s so much to look forward to with that game,” said Duke.

“It’s going to be our first game at the new stadium against a strong opposition, who are a massive club in England and who have a lot of history so it’s going to be a massive test for us.

“It’s always nice to test yourself against teams and players to see where you are at and what you need to get to before the season starts.

“So I’m looking forward to that.”

During the off-season, Duke was called into the Caltex Socceroos squad and featured in their most recent match against the Korea Republic.

The forward lead the line in his first appearance for the Caltex Scoceroos since September 2013 and almost made it a return to remember, coming centimetres close of scoring in the fixture.

“On a personal note, it’s always a nice reward (to be called up into the national team),” said Duke.

“Every player strives to represent theri country and play on the national stage so for me personally it was an amazing reward.

“It was just unfortunate how our season ended with the Wanderers but now it just gives me more ambition and more motivation.”

The team began their pre-season preparations this morning with new signings Daniel Georgievski, Daniel Lopar and Pirmin Schwegler officially joining the Red & Black pack.

“There’s quite a few fresh faces this morning which is always quite good to see and you can see everyone is hungry to get straight back into it.

“So I’m excited for what’s to come this pre-season and I’m looking forward to getting to know some of the fresh faces.”
