Yesterday we caught up with NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman to discuss a number of topics related to the club.

Everything from player recruitment, membership, merchandise as well as the introduction of new community programs was discussed.

Yesterday also marked a special day in the Wanderers history with it being 132 years since the Wanderers played their first match against King-s at Parramatta Common. The Wanderers won the match 5-0.

Wanderers FC players and coaches will take part the ‘King-s Spring Festival- on 25 & 26 August.

Western Sydney Wanderers FC Executive Chairman, Lyall Gorman, said it was fitting that the new club as established a relationship with the school.

“We share a rich history through football and 14 August 1880 is a significant date for both the new club and the school,” said Gorman.

“Western Sydney Wanderers FC is branded as ‘Australia-s newest, oldest club- in deference to the pioneers of 1880 and the choice of the club-s name was strongly favoured in our fan forums and online polls because of the historical significance.”
