Although the Phoenix were drawn as the home team, Westfield FFA Cup regulations stipulate that games must be played on Australian soil and so the Wanderers will be the host team.

The clash will mark the second consecutive time the Wanderers will face the Phoenix in the Round of 32, following Tony Popovic’s side’s 3-2 triumph at Campbelltown Stadium last year.

That night saw the Wanderers come from two goals down to claim victory, courtesy of a double on debut from Academy product Lachlan Scott and a superb Mitch Nichols long-range effort.

The match will provide a chance for new signings Josh Risdon and Michael Thwaite to make their Wanderers debuts, while former Phoenix player Roly Bonevacia will hope to turn out in Red & Black for the first time against his old side.

The Wanderers will be hoping to build on last year’s run in the competition having been eliminated by Melbourne City in the Quarter Finals.
