The Wanderers have signed their second Spaniard but we’re sure you already knew that.

So that you can be the know-it-all at the dinner table tonight, we’ve pieced together a few facts you may not have known.

1. Pep Guardiola

Dimas was part Barcelona B side that was coached by Pep Guardiola in the 2007/08 season. Guardiola led the team to qualify for the 2008 Segunda División B play-offs and the team won and were consequently promoted.

The following season both Guardiola and Dimas moved on from Barcelona B. Guardiola moved to Barceona’s first team whilst Dimas signed with La Liga club CD Numancia.

He will now be coached by apparent Guardiola look-alike, assistant coach Andrés Carrasco.

2. La Liga experience

Having played in the top league of Spain, Dimas will bring a wealth of experience with him to the squad.

In 2008/09 he signed with CD Numanica and went on to make 20 La Liga appearances that season.

This saw his team go up against the greats of world football, including a 1-0 victory over eventual Champions Barcelona with. That day Barca’s starting line-up consisted of Victor Valdes, Puyol, Marquez, Abidal, Dani Alves, Iniesta, Xavi, Yaya Youre, Messi, Henry, Eto’o.

All coached by his old mate Guardiola.

This off-season we have seen many changes with players joining and departing along with changes in the coaching staff.

These changes have seen a total of three Spaniards join the club: assistant coach Andrés Carrasco, midfielder Andreu and of course, Dimas – all of whom spent time at Barcelona.

You’ll be able to see all three at the Westfield FFA Cup match against Brisbane Roar on Tuesday 11 August. Tickets are available by clicking here.

4. Defensive Midfielder

The Wanderers have filled a missing piece of the midfield puzzle with Dimas looking to fill a defensive midfield role. He is looking forward to a great upcoming season with the Wanderers.

“I am very happy with the opportunity and I look forward to getting started with the Wanderers,” said Dimas.

“It will be a very nice experience for me and my family, I’m going to a great country like Australia and a great city and I will do my best to adapt to the city and the Club as quickly as possible.

“I wish we have a great season full of success.”

5. Joins the squad on Monday
