They may not have to kick a ball this weekend but the NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers are preparing to take next week on at full-steam for their Semi Final next Friday.

Between the sticks, Ante Covic, is encouraged by the dedication of his teammates under the guidance of Tony Popovic and the coaching staff.

“We-re going to keep going like we have all season and do the right things regardless of the week off,” the goalkeeper said.

“I think it-s very important to have a coach, firstly, the players respect and you get the same respect back from the coach.

“It means a lot to how you prepare yourself, and how you go out there and play.

“He has given us inspiration and belief from the start.”

Covic commends Popovic for not allowing doubt to feature at any during the Wanderers inaugural season.

“Having someone like that who understands what a player needs to do at a professional level is so important to all of us,” he said.

“He-s got that knack that not many coaches have out there to actually get the players playing at one hundred percent.”

Popovic confirmed that this week-s focus was around ensuring players were given time to be ready for the upcoming schedule leading into their Finals fixture.

“We-ve seen a good response from the players,” the coach said.

“Their quite relaxed and pleased with what they-ve achieved but the look in their eyes suggests they want more.

“I can see they will do everything they can to achieve the next goal.”
