Join in a Wanderers penalty shoot out at the Liverpool Night Markets.

Aspiring strikers can test their skills with coaches from the Western Sydney Wanderers FC during a guest penalty shootout at the 7 June Liverpool Night Markets.

The event will be held from 4-9pm and are part of Liverpool City Council’s plans to boost the city’s night time economy and make Liverpool a more exciting place to live and work.

Liverpool City Mayor, Ned Mannoun, said that the June event will offer new activities and an expanded variety of stall holders and in addition to the shootout, offers a little of something for everyone.

“This month will feature a penalty shoot-out run by Western Sydney Wanderers FC coaches, so I urge everyone to come along and try their luck. The first 50 strikers who hit the Wanderers target five times will win the opportunity to participate in a coaching clinic in July where they will also meet some of the Wanderers players,” he said.

“There will be new food, new activities and new stalls with more variety at this month’s markets, and there’s more to come over the next couple of weeks.

“With World Cup fever about to hit us the shootout is an exciting event and I encourage residents to come along and see the spectacle of the world game in action, whilst enjoying a variety of fresh produce, handmade goods and delicious food.”

Western Sydney Wanderers Community, Pathway and Football Development Manager Tim Thorne said the shootout was a chance for the region’s football hopefuls to demonstrate their skills to professional coaches.

“Liverpool is such a strong footballing area and is such a strong breeding ground for the game. I encourage all young footballers to come along and have a go. There is nothing like testing your skills and having a lot of fun in the process.” Mr Thorne said.

The SBS World Cup Radio Van will also be present where you will be able to get all of your World Cup Info as well as special World Cup giveaways.
