Foxtel Y-League Preview: Jets vs Wanderers

The Western Sydney Wanderers Foxtel Y-League team will be aiming for their fifth consecutive win when they travel up to Newcastle tonight to take on the Jets at No.2 Sportsground.

Coached by former Wanderer Labinot Haliti, Newcastle are currently fourth in the Foxtel Y-League Group B with two wins and three losses so far.

The Wanderers will need to watch out for Jets top scorer Cai Tipaldo. The striker has netted three times so far this season, including one in their previous game, a 3-1 defeat to Central Coast Mariners.

For the Red & Black, Mohamed Adam will be one to watch after a double against Canberra in the last round.

Able to play as a centre forward or a winger, the 18-year-old made an instant impact when he joined the Wanderers, scoring nine minutes into his Foxtel Y-League debut against Canberra in November 2017.

Adam has also received international honours, playing for the Australia U18 team in the SBS Cup last August.

Adrian Valenti is another player to keep an eye on. The speedy left back, who along with Adam studied at Bossley Park High School, joined the Wanderers Academy in 2017 after playing junior football for Marconi Stallions.

Valenti has impressed both with his defending and his ability to support the attack and made his Foxtel Y-League debut for the Red & Black against Newcastle in Round 4 of the 2017/18 season.

In the Wanderers last meeting against the side, the Red & Black won 3-0 after goals from Andrea Agamemnonos, Lachlan Scott and Tate Russell.
