Wanderer Daniel Georgievski believes the FFA Cup is a fantastic platform for the Red & Black to show what they are capable of ahead of their Hyundai A-League season kicking off on 12 October.

The experienced defender, who joined the club in May, is delighted with how quickly the squad has gelled during what has been a solid pre-season.

It was all there to see as the Wanderers prevailed in an extra time 2-1 win over Premiers Perth Glory in the Round of 32 two weeks ago.

The Red & Black will continue their FFA Cup campaign on Wednesday against Sydney United and Georgievski, who was raised in Western Sydney, is excited by the prospect of another serious hit out against such a club with a huge history.

“I am expecting another good game. Sydney United have a proud history and we know what they have achieved in Australian football,” Georgievski said.

“They have had a very good season and will be up for it.

“But, we are happy with the way we have been playing in our friendly games and especially against Perth in the Cup. You can really feel things are starting to fall into place.

“Of course, we expect to win against Sydney United. If we go into the game with the same mentality as we did against Perth we will win and definitely show everyone what we can do.

“A game like this is perfect for our preparation at this time of the pre-season.”

Georgievski has settled in well at the Wanderers and has been one of the standouts during the long pre-season.

The Macedonian international’s influence off the field has also been important with Georgievski becoming one of the real characters in the squad, quick with a smile, always up for a laugh and happy to be involved in plenty of banter with his new teammates.

You can catch Georgievski and the Wanderers at Campbelltown Stadium on Wednesday night. Get your tickets here.
