Get to know more about tonight’s Champions League opponents as we take on Kashima Antlers at 9pm on Fox Sports 505.

Who are the Antlers?

Kashima Antlers are the most successful club in J-League history. Formed in 1947 as Sumitomo Metals FC, they have since gone on to win the J-league seven times and the League Cup five times.

They won a hat-trick of leagues in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and in 200 became the first Japanese team to win the treble when they took home the J-League, League Cup and Emperor’s Cup.

Four Emperor’s Cup victories means Kashima’s haul of trophies totals 16.

Current Form

The Kashima Antlers finished the 2014 J-League season in third place, qualifying them for the Champions League and have been in pre-season preparations since then.

Experience in the AFC Champions League

Kashima return to the Champions League after an absence of three years. This will be their seventh appearance in the competition though they have never gone past the Quarter Final stage which they reached in 2008.
