The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers have been defeated 2-0 by Perth Glory on Saturday night at NIB Stadium.

Goals in the final minute of both halves were enough for Perth Glory to silence the Wanderers and seal all three points at home.

An energetic start by both sides could have resulted in either side taking the lead: Adam Taggart was denied an opener for Perth when Jonathon Aspro miraculously cleared his shot off the line, while Terry Antonis had the best chance for the Red & Black with his free kick unluckily hitting the post.

With only seocnds left of the first half, Castro found Chris Harold whose volley deflected into the back of the net putting the home side up 1-0.

The Wanderers pushed for an equaliser, as Mitch Nichols teed up Antonis for a stirke but the midfielder’s shot was high and wide of the goal.

Brendon Santalab had a great chance to draw level with a sharp strike from the edge of the box, forcing Liam Reddy to react very quickly to make the save.

Diego Castro

Though the Glory would double their lead soon after when Castro cut-back to Joel Chianese to tap home from close range.

Despite the loss, the Wanderers remain in the top six as they prepare to travel to China for Tuesday night’s Asian Champions League clash against Shanghai SIPG.
