Hamill looking forward to Seoul reunion

Wanderers defender Brendan Hamill says he’s expecting a stern test from a familiar FC Seoul side in tonight’s Asian Champions League clash in South Korea.

You can watch the game live on Fox Sports 503 at 9:30pm or follow @wswanderersfc on Twitter for updates.

Hamill was part of the back four that kept Seoul scoreless in both legs of the 2014 Semi Final of the Asian Champions League as the Wanderers marched their way to an historic title.

The 24-year-old also spent two years in South Korea with Seognam and says he’s well aware of the challenge facing the Red & Black at Seoul World Cup Stadium.

“We’ve played FC Seoul a few times now in our Champions League games over the past few campaigns so were expecting a pretty tough game.

“Neither team has won a game in the group stage yet and personally I’ve played in Korea and I know how big of a club FC Seoul are and how strong they are.

“We expect a tough game but we have our game plan and it’s up to us to execute.“

Wanderers boss Tony Popovic echoed Hamill’s sentiments, praising Seoul for the way they’ve handled themselves in the tournament so far despite results.

“They’re a strong team, very hard to break down; they don’t give you many opportunities.

“We watched both of their matches and although they didn’t win they controlled both games, they had better possession; unfortunately they didn’t get the results they wanted.

“We have a lot of respect for FC Seoul as a club, we’ve seen their recent matches; we watched them win on the weekend and we know it’ll be difficult.

“We respect FC Seoul but we certainly don’t fear anyone in this competiton but we have to show improvements we’ve made since last match and we believe we can put on a good show.”
