Western Sydney Wanderers saw their Finals Series hopes take a hit last weekend and they’ll be determined to bounce back quickly against Melbourne City on Saturday night.

The 3-1 defeat to Brisbane Roar was the Wanderers’ first under interim boss Jean-Paul de Marigny, leaving them three points adrift of the top six.

It was by no means a fatal blow to their finals hopes but a clash away to second-place City is not exactly the ideal fixture for an immediate bounce back.

Especially as Erick Mombaerts’ side picked up an impressive 3-2 win away at defending Premiers Perth Glory in their last outing.

City played some sensational football at HBF Park – especially in the first half – and they’ll want to keep building on that if they want to be a serious contender come the finals.

Jamie Maclaren scored a late winner when City beat the Wanderers 3-2 earlier this season and he’s likely to be a key again at AAMI Park.
