Tony Popovic’s reigning Premiers have surged into third position courtesy of a club record-equalling five straight wins and will have eyes for all three points against a Wanderers outfit smarting from back-to-back defeats against Brisbane Roar and Wellington Phoenix.

The Red & Black have secured just one win from 10 matches – a 3-2 victory over Adelaide United on December 27 – and face an almighty test if they are to overturn the form book at Bankwest Stadium.

Popovic’s return to Western Sydney adds another element of intrigue to a contest the Wanderers and head coach Markus Babbel needs to get a result from to give their season a kick.
