Ins & Outs: Perth v Wanderers

Wanderers Westfield W-League head coach Dean Heffernan has named his extended squad for tonight’s match against Perth Glory.

Western Sydney Wanderers are battered and bruised but will book their first-ever Finals Series appearance if they beat Perth Glory on Saturday evening.

The Red & Black have fallen from title contenders to looking nervously over their shoulder at Brisbane Roar ahead of Round 14’s decisive contest in West Australia, a match the Wanderers enter with four defeats from their last five.

It means Dean Heffernan’s side must beat Perth in order to make their participation in the Finals Series absolute, but a draw or defeat would leave the door open for Brisbane Roar to take their place should the Queenslanders beat Melbourne City on Sunday.

Their trip to Perth has been made all the more daunting by the form of their opponents. Bobby Despotovski’s side have won three matches on the bounce and shocked Sydney FC 2-1 in Round 13.
