It’s been just over two weeks since these two sides have met with their previous meeting in Brisbane ending in a 1-1 draw.

Former Roar starlet Kwame Yeboah haunted Brisbane and deepened to gloom around Redcliffe by applying a sweet opening strike from the edge of the area in the 12th minute after some intricate build up play from the Wanderers.

But after surviving an early barrage from the visitors Warren Moon’s side recovered impressively and equalised when the excellent Joey Champness teed up Riku Danzaki to slot home early in the second half.

Wanderers ‘keeper Daniel Margush made a string of fine saves from Champness, Golgol Mebrahtu, Dylan Wenzel-Halls and Scott McDonald as Brisbane sought to press home their advantage, but the home side – or Carl Robinson’s men – could not muster enough composure or execution in the final third to find a winner.

The Wanderers head into the fixture after a very similar result over the weekend against Adelaide United and will be desperate to turn their recent draws into wins.

There was a goal and red card to both sides in the gripping 1-1 draw played out between Wanderers and Adelaide.

Both teams reversed their roles in either half. Adelaide scored first through Tomi Juric before Louis D’Arrigo was dismissed for two yellow card offences in the first 45. After the break, the Wanderers struck back through Simon Cox before Mark Natta pulled Stefan Mauk down in a goalscoring position to join D’Arrigo in going down the tunnel.

The Roar meanwhile returned to winning ways in fine fashion with a well-earned 2-1 victory over Macarthur FC on Friday evening.

Dylan Wenzel-Halls’ stinging long-range strike broke the deadlock early in the first half before Riku Danzaki secured all three points with his fifth goal of the season and second in two games just prior to the hour.
