Janjetovic wary of wounded Jets

Wanderers shot-stopper Vedran Janjetovic says the team won’t be underestimating the Jets ahead of tomorrow’s clash at McDonald Jones Stadium.

After last week’s 5-0 thumping at the hands of Wellington Phoenix, Newcastle are now on a seven-game winless run but Janjetovic say that’ll mean little come Saturday afternoon.

“We can’t underestimate anyone in this league,” Janjetovic said at training this morning.

“They’re coming off a few bad losses, so they’re going to be pumped to get a result and they’re going to want to get a good result in front of their home fans.

“We have to get the job done and we’ve had a good week in training so hopefully we can continue our roll.”

The Wanderers are currently enjoying a rich vein of form after three consecutive wins which Janjetovic says is the culmination of hard work and belief.

“It’s been a good run from us over the last couple of weeks, especially with the ACL kicking it off for us, so everyone is good to go.

“I think it just took time for us to get a few things rolling and I think everything is falling into place at the right time.”

A victory this weekend will solidify the Wanderers’ place in the six but Janjetovic says the team won’t be getting ahead of themselves.

“We’re taking it game by game, so Newcastle is our target.

“We’re in the top six as it stands so we’re not going to look too far ahead.

“If any results happen to go our way, we’ll take them.”
