Born in Sydney and of an Italian background, Joey started his career with FC Five Dock in 2005 before moving to Inter Lions in 2007.
A move to APIA Leichhardt beckoned in after that where Joey would remain until 2010 when he was selected in the Canterbury representative side.
In 2012, Joey began a two year spell with Sydney Olympic, eventually leaving the Blues for Football NSW Institute in 2014.
Joey was rewarded for his stellar performances that season when he was selected to represent NSW in the boys NTC team at the 2014 national tournament alongside fellow Wanderers Mathieu Cordier and Ramy Najjarine.
The midfielder’s time with FNSW ended in 2015 with Joey joining the Wanderers Academy in 2016.
