Joeys begin AFC U-16 Championship qualifiers with win

The Joeys have made the perfect start to their 2020 AFC U-16 Championship qualifying campaign in Vietnam with a 2-1 win over Mongolia.

Australia took the lead in the third minute via an own goal from Altanshagai Delgernasan, before the Joeys doubled their advantage through a second own goal in the 15th minute when Tuguldur Batsukh turned in a clearance.

Mongolia managed to pull one goal back in the 65th minute through Shiiravjamts Damdindorj, but Australia held on for a 2-1 victory.

The Joey's next match is against Macau on Wednesday at 10pm AEST, before Australia face Timor-Leste from 7pm AEST on Friday and then Vietnam on Sunday from 10pm AEST.
