Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas pens a letter to fans about the stadium development announcement.

Today’s announcement of a brand new $300 million stadium on the current Pirtek Stadium site will be a massive boon for the Wanderers our members and the people of Western Sydney.

The NSW State Government has listened and has acted and what a great moment this is for our supporters and our region.

As a born and bred Western Sydney local this will be a truly World class facility in our own backyard.

Replacing our now outdated but still much loved venue, Wanderland will be reborn and the opportunity presented to our club, our fans and our region will be huge. It will give us the ability to grow as a Club and sets a platform for a number of opportunities to continue on our path to becoming a globally recognised and respected football club.

Along with Parramatta City Council’s strategy to build ‘Australia’s next great city’ and the State Government’s first stage of its $1 billion Western Sydney Light Rail Network likely to include a leg from Westmead to Parramatta, running past the stadium precinct, we will have a venue, a precinct and connectivity that is unrivalled in Australian sport.

While the transformation and planning for the new stadium in Parramatta takes place there will be a period of displacement that we will have to deal with.

Over the next few months as we learn more of the Government’s timelines for work to commence on our venue we will consult with our members and supporters to help guide our decision making process on where we will play our matches while Wanderland is under construction.

While we await further information from Premier Mike Baird and his government on the details of the planning and construction of the new stadium we look forward to hosting all of our Hyundai A-League 2015/16 Season home matches at Pirtek Stadium where we look forward to a very exciting and successful season.

See you at Wanderland this season.
