After not thinking much about football outside of Europe, NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder Iacopo La Rocca is cursing himself halfway across the world.

After not thinking much about football outside of Europe, NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder Iacopo La Rocca is cursing himself halfway across the world.

The 29-year-old former Lazio junior is an example of sacrifice when it comes to following your dreams and has found happiness playing for Tony Popovic-s squad.

“There-s a great mentality here to believe in yourself and what we can do,” La Rocca said.

“We-re playing good now but we can always do better.”

The Italian admits the ten game winning streak and Hyundai A-League record is a wonderful achievement but reveals the Premiership is the ultimate prize.

“The wins are important but more special than that is where we finish the season,” he said.

On the back of a fantastic goal last weekend against the Heart in Melbourne, La Rocca is impressed with how far the club has come after their first round of matches.

“After a few games here – I changed my mind,” he said.

“I could see the quality and how much football had improved in Australia from what I had been told back in Italy.

“Everything is so professional for the club-s first year.”

Having played in fierce inter-city matches as a youngster in Italy – La Rocca says there is no comparison when it comes to the Wanderers supporters.

“They have surprised me – they are the best!”
