The Wanderers newest International recruit Lo’eau LaBonta speaks about how she’s been settling in after the great move from Kansas City to Western Sydney and the club’s chances of securing silverware this season.

Landing in Australia last Tuesday to link up with the Wanderers’ Westfield W-League team, LaBonta says she has felt welcomed and at home by the family atmosphere at the club.

“The club, the girls and the staff have been so amazing,” said LaBonta.

“Everyone has helped me adjust so easily and they are all really friendly.

“I love the club and especially how they are partnered with the Men here.”

LaBonta has had her sights set on travelling overseas to play football for a number of years and when the opportunity of Australia came up, LaBonta leapt at the chance to make the move from Sporting Kansas City in the National Women’s Soccer League to the Wanderers in the Westfield W-League.

“I’ve always wanted to travel to Australia and it’s always been on my bucket list.

“We have so many resources here. Whether it’s watching a film on how the other team plays or even the girls teaching me how to drive on the other side of the road.

“It’s been a great and easy adjustment.”

This Sunday could see LaBonta make her debut in the Westfield W-League with the Californian rating the club’s chances of winning some silverware this season.

“I honestly think we have a chance to win at the end and take out the Championship.

“I think this team is already a great team and they are pretty strong.

“I think I can bring some leadership and tenacity to the pitch.

“Hopefully we can execute our game plan this weekend against Newcastle Jets and I’m excited for the road ahead.”
