Rainy weather did not deter avid fans who visited the NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers and Coach Tony Popovic this morning at Blacktown International Sportspark.

Popovic knows it-s a special time for all the club-s supporters and is making sure his personnel take some time to soak it all in too.

“They-re a very grounded group, and they-ve handled the expectations and pressures throughout the year,” he said.

“We told them at the beginning of the week to enjoy it.

“It-s our first Grand Final but speaking to people that have a lot more experience than me at this – you want to cherish the moment and enjoy the lead up.

“That-s what we-re trying to do.”

The coach assures that the team-s preparations will not be compromised after advancing to the Hyundai A-League Grand Final with a win over Brisbane Roar last Friday at Parramatta Stadium.

“We want to enjoy it and even with our fans here today – we want them to feel part of it,” Popovic said.

“We expect all our players to be able to take the game in their stride.

“They-ve done it all year and there-s no reason why they can-t do it one more time.”

An amazing inaugural season was further highlighted at last night-s FFA Hyundai A-League Awards when Popovic triumphed as Coach of the Year.

“It-s a nice award to receive especially when it-s from your fellow peers,” he said.

“It is humbling and a great honour.”
