The six-time capped Matilda, who has spent 10 seasons in the Westfield W-League, has joined the Wanderers after a season with Melbourne Victory.

The Wanderers have made a concerted effort to make an impact in the competition as they bid to make the finals for the first time in their history.

“It will be incredible to create history with the club,” said Mastrantonio.

“I think we are building a really nice squad at the moment.

“We have some great characters and good people involved which I think is really important. We have also signed three or four Americans so that is a huge coup for the club.

“It is really exciting times and I hope we can really make history with the Wanderers this season.”

Mastrantonio said she was blown away by the set-up at the Wanderers this season.

“It’s very exciting. The club’s been amazing so far, the new facilities are incredible, it’s a very professional set-up,” she added.

“The girls, (head coach) Dean (Heffernan), (assistant coach) Meggsy (Michael Beauchamp), (assistant coach), Nuls (Catherine Cannuli) … they are all doing a great job, so it is a real honour being here representing the club.

“You can tell their blood runs Red & Black, so that means a lot for the club and Western Sydney in general.

“I’ve learned that since being here. It is such a great football, passionate community and it runs all the way from the top of the club, all the way through to the players and staff.”
