Jacob Melling was out at Thurina Park in Villawood on Tuesday night to support Woodville Wanderers FC.
The local grassroots club recently faced some tragedy after an incident occurred near their training fields last week where young children were playing football.
Jacob Melling was invited along with counsellors to speak to the children and their families and to assist with their training session.
Melling spoke about the importance of children feeling safe in their sporting environment.
“It was great to be there and support the kids during such a tough time and to remind them how fun football can be.
“You should always feel safe whenever you play sport,” he said.
