After a long break away from the pitch, Wanderers forward Nicolai Muller is confident the next month of preparations will help the Red & Black push forward for a spot in the Finals Series.

For Muller, the three-month long suspension of the Hyundai A-League due to COVID-19 was the longest break he’s had away from football since he started playing.

“I’m very happy to be back on the pitch,” said Muller.

“It was such a long time to stay at home with no training.

“I enjoyed the time with my family spending the whole time at home with the kids but then after six weeks you’re maybe a little nervous and you want to train more.

“The first few weeks were very good but now we want to get back on the pitch.”

Reflecting on his first season playing abroad with the Wanderers, Muller believes the last six games before the break have shown the best of the Red & Black.

“I think we have done a very good job and have had some good performances, the coach changed a little bit and we are more confident,” said Muller.

“We got the wins and I think this is the most important thing, and we worked together as a team.

“We showed in the last six games that we had good team spirit and that we have good quality. I hope we bring this back.”

The Wanderers are on the cusp of qualifying for the Finals Series, something which Muller wants to experience during his first season in Australia.

“I think we can make the Finals and I’ve never played Finals before, but in one game everything’s possible,” explained Muller.

“We saw that we can beat Sydney FC but we can lose against Newcastle.

“In one game I think anything can happen and the best team will win.”
