NPL 2 Preview: Wanderers v Northern Tigers

header

Western Sydney Wanderers will be hoping for a winning return home when they face Northern Tigers on Sunday afternoon.

The Red and Black will take to Wanderers Football Park for the first time this year as they look to build upon last week’s draw with St George.

Patrick Zwaanswijk’s side were denied a last-minute winner in an entertaining 0-0 draw with Saints and will back themselves to make a statement against their opponents on Sunday afternoon.

Despite conceding possession for a lot of the game, Western Sydney looked dangerous with the likes of Kosta Grozos and Ali Auglah proving a handful for the back four while Jarrod Carluccio was a dominant presence on the left flank.

The home side will be without Reuben Awaritefe after his red card and the manager will be hoping for a more disciplined performance after going down to 10 men in both games so far.

The Tigers enter the Round 3 encounter on the back of a 2-1 loss to NWS Spirit and sit in fifth position on the ladder. The Northern Beaches side finished last season in third and will be expecting to once again play finals in 2021.

After a strong defensive display last week the Wanderers defence will once again need to be at their best with the Tigers strike partnership of Alex Brown and Shervin Keshavarz Adeli combining for 21 goals in 2020.

Sunday’s match begins at 1:00pm at Wanderers Football Park. Make sure you keep an eye on Twitter for live match coverage.
