NPL 2 Preview: Hills United v Western Sydney Wanderers

Al-Taay

There’s a hat-trick of wins on the line when Western Sydney Wanderers travel to face Hills United in Round 5 of the NPL 2 NSW.

Saturday’s clash in Seven Hills sees the Red and Black coming off two hugely impressive displays, 3-1 and 5-0 against Northern Tigers and Mounties Wanderers respectively.

It’s not just on the scoreboard they’ve been impressing either with Patrick Zwaanswijk’s side showcasing an up-tempo, short passing game that has made life very difficult for opposition teams.

Their previous outing, the 5-0 drubbing of Mounties, saw Western Sydney dominate from the opening whistle, stretching Mounties’ defence and midfield before ruthlessly taking their chances.

Braces to Ali Auglah and Alessandro Lopane highlighted this attacking form while Alex Badolato’s goal also came in the form of a neat, first-time finish.

While enjoying a good run of form and sitting in third on the ladder, the focus turns to Saturday’s hit-out against Hills United.

The Brumbies find themselves in seventh position but only two points outside the top four, having gone unbeaten in three games.

Hills finished 10th in last year’s shortened season but have shown signs of improvement and will provide a stern test for the Red & Black away from home.

Jordan Pairfait is the danger man for the Wanderers defence having already notched three goals in four games this season.

Saturday’s match begins at 7:00pm at Lily’s Football Centre. Make sure you keep an eye on Twitter for live match coverage.
