Western Sydney Wanderers  NPL 2 first grade team have flexed their muscles with a dominant 4-0 win over Central Coast Mariners on Saturday.

The win at Wanderers Football Park sees Western Sydney maintain second place on the NSW NPL 2 ladder.

A brace from Reuben Awaritefe was sandwiched between goals from Ali Auglah and Kosta Grozos in what ended up being a comfortable win for the home side.

As has often been the case this season Wanderers took a little while to settle before gradually building some pressure.

The opener arrived after 16 minutes from a familiar face but in an unusual fashion as Auglah got his head to a corner, finding the back of the net with too much power for the goalkeeper.

Auglah

Auglah went close minutes later with an effort that clattered off the crossbar as the home side pressed their advantage.

Jack Warshawsky pulled off a number of fine saves last week and was again up for it, chiming in when needed to preserve his side’s lead.

The Red & Black continued to pepper the Mariners goal but the visitors were showing plenty of fight themselves.

In fact it took until the 72nd minute for the second goal to arrive, Awaritefe getting on the end of a long ball and placing his shot perfectly in the bottom left corner.

The big striker was on the scoresheet again 16 minutes later after heading home from an Auglah cross.

He could have had a hat-trick as well but was brought down while through on goal by Cameron Windust who was shown a red card for his troubles.

It mattered little with Grozos dispatching the resulting free-kick to cap off a memorable performance.
