NPL NSW Women’s Wrap: Round 8

Western Sydney Wanderers rising star Susan Phonsongkham got on the scoresheet in Football NSW Institute’s epic win over Sydney University in Round 8 of the NPL NSW competition. 

Goals from Kyra Cooney-Cross, Aideen Keane and Wanderer Susan Phonsongkham ensured that the young Institute side secured a win over league leaders Sydney University.

Wanderer Jada Whyman had another great performance for the Institute after being called into action to make a number of fantastic saves, including a penalty that spurred the Institute to rally together and secure the win.

Wanderer Courtney Nevin was also threatening, firing a set piece from the edge of the area that just went wide along with Rachel Lowe who forced Sydney’s keeper to make a fingertip save in the final minutes of the match.

While the Red & Black’s captain Erica Halloway was part of the Illawarra Stingray’s 7-0 thumping of Sutherland Shire.
