The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 2 squad travel to Jensen Park on Saturday night to take on Bankstown City FC in Round 2 of the season.
The Wanderers kicked off their season last week with a 1-1 draw against Mt Druitt Town Rangers.
A second half equaliser by defender Jackson Bandiera earned Trevor Morgan's side a point after former Wanderer Lachlan Roberts had opened the scoring for Mt Druitt.
The Red & Black dominated much of the game with their possession-based style and will be looking to notch their first win of the campaign against a normally steely Bankstown oufit.
The Lions will play their first match of the season against the Wanderers after their Round 1 fixture against Bankstown Berries was washed out.
Having finished third on the ladder last year, Bankstown will hope to challenge once again this season despite losing a few key senior players in the off-season; namely inaugural Wanderers captain Michael Beauchamp.
The last time these two sides met was in June of last year, where the Red & Black claimed a dramatic 3-2 victory courtesy of a last-gasp Tariq Maia effort.
Before that, it was Bankstown who came out on top in the first meeting of the season with a 2-1 win in Round 4.
If history is any indicator of what is to come, Saturday night's clash is sure to be a tightly fought contest between two sides with title ambitions.
