NPL Preview: Blacktown Spartans v WSW

The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 2 team will be aiming to keep the pressure on the top two when they make the short trip to Blacktown Football Park to face Blacktown Spartans.

In the Wanderers last game against the Spartans, a Marley Peterson double and a goal from Thomas Aquilina gave us a 3-1 victory.

The Spartans are currently seventh, just outside the finals places.

They have won their last two games, and will be confident after coming off a 6-0 triumph over Macarthur Rams. Their two main threats are expected to be striker Connor Eldridge, who has six goals for the campaign, and winger Lachlan Rose, who has five.

For the Wanderers, Mohamed Adam has been in incredible form this year and he leads NPL 2 with a tally of 14 goals. Able to play as a centre forward or on either wing, earlier this season the 18-year-old scored in eight consecutive appearances for the Red & Black.

A former Marconi Stallions player, Adam has also played youth internationals for Australia.

Mohamed Al Taay is another player to watch, having featured regularly for the Red & Black’s NPL 2 1st Grade side over the last two seasons.

This year, he has been a dependable presence in the centre of defence for the Wanderers, only missing one game. Also capable of playing at right-back or in central midfield, Al Taay turns 19 on the day of the match against Spartans.
