NPL Preview: Canterbury Bankstown vs Wanderers

The Western Sydney Wanderers will be looking to continue their unbeaten run when they play Canterbury Bankstown FC at The Crest Athletic Centre on Saturday night.

The last time these two sides met, the Red & Black got a 1-1 draw thanks to a stoppage-time equaliser from Kyle Cimenti.

Canterbury Bankstown FC are in good form having only lost one game in their last six games.

Player/Coach Perry Moustakas is their top scorer with four goals, while former Wanderers Y-League player Richard Darko has scored three times this season, including a late equaliser in Canterbury’s most recent clash against Parramatta FC.

For the Red & Black, Lochlan Constable may be one to watch on Saturday. After being initially recruited for our U15 side in 2016, Constable moved up through the ranks and was a member of the Wanderers U18 side that won back-to-back Grand Finals in 2016 and 2017.

Able to play in midfield or defence, Constable has also had stints with the first-grade side, scoring on his debut against North Shore Mariners in May 2017.

Dylan Ruiz-Diaz is another Wanderer who could be seeing action for the Wanderers NPL 2 first grade side in the near future.

Ruiz-Diaz joined the Wanderers Academy in 2017 after previously playing for Blacktown City and Football NSW Institute.

Last year, he scored 24 goals in 21 games for the U18 team, including a hat-trick in the Grand Final against Central Coast Mariners.

The 17-year-old has continued his form into this season, scoring eight goals in 11 games for the U20s.
