NPL Preview: Central Coast Mariners vs Wanderers

The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 2 team will have a tough test on Saturday afternoon when they travel up north to Pluim Park to face Central Coast Mariners.

Boasting the best defence in the NPL 2, Central Coast have lost one in their last six games and are currently in second place.

Their duo of Emmanuel Peters and Charles William is one the Wanderers will need to keep an eye on in the match with the pair having scored 19 goals this season. Both also found the net in their last game, a 3-0 win over Parramatta FC.

For the Red & Black, Thomas Aquilina will be one to watch. The 17-year-old defender, who is comfortable at either right or left back, joined the Wanderers Academy in 2016 in the U16 team after previously playing for Football NSW Institute.

Aquilina was also a member of the Wanderers U18 side that won the 2017 Grand Final and made his NPL 2 first grade debut last August against Macarthur Rams.

Tacettin Kumsuz is another Wanderer who will be looking to impress on Saturday. The 19-year-old midfielder started in the Wanderers Academy U18 side in 2016 and rose quickly through the ranks to be part of the NPL 2 first grade squad at the end of that same year.

Kumsuz also made three appearances for the Red & Black in last season’s Foxtel Y-League Championship winning season.

The last time the Wanderers met Central Coast, the game ended in a 1-1 draw with Abraham Majok getting on the scoresheet that night.
