NPL Preview: Hills United vs Wanderers

The Western Sydney Wanderers will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s loss to St George FC this Saturday night when they take on Hills United at Lily Homes Stadium.

Hills United are in their second season of the NPL 2 after earning promotion from NPL 3 in 2016.

The North-West Sydney outfit had a solid campaign in 2017 that saw them qualify for the Westfield FFA Cup’s Round of 32.

Hills are led by three players who have previously represented Australia at the Futsal FFA Cup, brother Greg and Wade Giovenali, as well as pacey winger Daniel Fogarty.

Their squad has also been strengthened by the return of last season’s top scorer, Peter Cejka, who recently had a short stint with Blacktown City.

For the Wanderers, midfielder Kosta Grozos will be crucial for the team’s success.

Grozos chipped in with four goals during the 2017/18 Foxtel Y-League season, following on from a strong NPL 2 season in 2017 where he was named the club’s NPL Player of the Year.

Grozos was awarded for his form with selection in the Young Socceroos squad for last November’s 2018 AFC U19 Championship.

The last time the two sides met, the Red & Black snatched the three points after a confident 3-1 victory. Keanu Baccus, Kosta Grozos and Matthew Lecce were the Wanderers goal scorers that night.
