The Wanderers Academy NPL 1 first grade team will make the short trip to Popondetta Park on Saturday night to take on Mt Druitt Town Rangers.
The Red & Black head into the match after a 1-1 draw against Marconi Stallions in windy conditions last week.
The action began very quickly when Marconi took the lead in just the second minute through Lachlan Sepping. A goal-mouth scramble and favourable rebound saw Sepping tuck the ball into the net for the opening goal of the contest.
The windy conditions caused havoc for both sides who struggled to maintain possession, resulting in a scrappy and uneventful first half.
The Wanderers looked better after the break and they were rewarded with an equaliser in the 60th minute. Rory Jordan tapped home his second goal in as many matches for the Wanderers.
Jordan’s goal lifted the team as the Wanderers began to frustrate Marconi through quality possession play and the forward will be one to watch against Mt Druitt come Saturday night.
The 20-year-old has hit the back of the net twice this season and has begun finding form against some tough opposition in the NPL 1.
The Rangers similarly found their form last week after a 4-3 win against Premier League heavyweights Sydney United.
Former Wanderer John Roberts scored a brace in the victory and will be one for the Wanderers defence to keep quiet in the fixture on Saturday night.
Mt Druitt currently sit eighth on the ladder (two points above the Wanderers) and will be looking to secure their second win of the season against the Red & Black.
