After picking up one point from their last two matches the Wanderers are on the hunt for an important win when they take on fifth-placed Northern Tigers at Valentine Sports Park this Saturday evening.

KICK-OFF: Northern Tigers v Western Sydney Wanderers. 7pm Saturday at Valentine Sports Park

A 4-3 loss to Mt Druitt Town Rangers was followed by a 1-1 stalemate with Spirit FC last Tuesday in a pair of results that places Trevor Morgan’s side one point away from competition frontrunners Sydney FC after 15 matches.

The Wanderers were comfortable 2-0 victors when the two outfits met in Round 3 with goals from Mario Shabow and Liam Youlley enough to continue the Red & Black’s bright start to their National Premier Leagues excursion.

The wave of momentum that accompanied Western Sydney’s charge towards promotion has turned significantly from that period of the season and it will be another youthful Wanderers side that greets Northern Tigers in Saturday’s Round 15 clash.

The reigning 2015 PS4 NPL Men’s 2 Champions were edged 3-2 by Marconi in last weekend’s action and with Saturday’s date with the Wanderers followed by a trip to Lambert Park to face leaders Sydney it will be a pivotal slew of matches for the Steve Hurd coached side.

Forward Liam McConaghy was a crucial figure in the side’s championship triumph last season and the Tigers marksman represents the central goal scoring threat for the opposition on Saturday having netted seven goals in 15 matches this season.

Kyle Cimenti has meanwhile emerged as the Wanderers’ main man in the final third in the absence of Lachlan Scott and the former Sydney United 58 product has gone some way in filling the void left by the Hyundai A-League bound striker with four goals (including a hat-trick against Mt Druitt Town Rangers) in his last two matches.
