NPL Preview: Northern Tigers vs Wanderers

The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 2 team will be aiming to continue their unbeaten run when they take on Northern Tigers at North Turramurra Recreation Area.

The Red & Black’s last trip to the Northern suburbs ended all square in a 1-1 draw with Tass Mourdoukoutas scoring on that night for the Wanderers.

Northern Tigers are currently in fifth place and are coming into the match off a convincing 4-1 win over Mounties.

The Tigers have quite a few goal threats that the Wanderers should be wary of; Joshua Swadling has netted eight time this season, while ex-Futsalroo Shervin Adeli has six goals in his last six games.

They can also call upon the services of former Wanderers Academy player Oliver Wiggin.

The Red & Black are also set for a top of the table battle in the U20s with the Wanderers one point ahead of the Tigers.

Peter Grozos has slotted straight into the U20 this season after playing regularly for the U16 side in 2018.

The younger brother of Wanderers Hyundai A-League player Kosta, Peter joined the Wanderers Academy in 2016 from APIA Leichhardt, winning the U14 Player of the Year Award the following year.

Alongside Grozos, Stefan Nikolic is another player who has done well since moving up to the U20s.

The forward joined the Red & Black last year, scoring twice in the club’s U15 Grand Final victory over Canterbury Bankstown FC.

A Blacktown City junior, Nikolic has found the net regularly this year and has scored six times in eleven appearances.
