NPL Preview: Rydalmere vs Wanderers

The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 2 team will be aiming to get back to winning ways on Saturday night when they meet with Rydalmere Lions at Valentine Sports Park.

The last time the Wanderers played Rydalmere, goals from Mohamed Adam and John Roberts ensured a 2-0 win for the Red & Black.

Rydalmere are in their second season at this level after earning promotion from NPL 3 in 2017. The Lions are currently sitting in 12th with their most recent result being a 1-1 draw against Bonnyrigg.

The main threat for the Red & Black is expected to be midfielder Mitchell Gibbs who has six goals for the season.

For the Wanderers, Andrea Agamemnonos continues to play an important role in the middle of the park.

The central midfielder joined the Red & Black for the 2018/19 Foxtel Y-League season, playing a part in the club’s run to the 2019 Foxtel Y-League Grand Final.

The former Australian Schoolboy representative is now the captain of our NPL 2 side and has missed only one game all season.

Another player with a bright future is Ali Auglah, who joined the Wanderers last year to play for the U16s.

This year, the tricky winger has featured regularly for the U20 side and made his NPL 2 First Grade debut against Rydalmere back in Round 6.

Auglah has also caught the eye of Joeys coach Trevor Morgan and on Thursday was named in the squad for a training camp which will be held next week in Canberra.
