NPL Preview: Wanderers v Berries

The Western Sydney Wanderers will be aiming to keep their spot in the top two of NPL 2 when they host Bankstown Berries at Lilys Football Centre on Sunday night.

The Red & Black suffered a shock 2-1 defeat last week to Macarthur Rams and will be looking to return to the winners circle and close the three-point gap on league leaders Marconi Stallions.

After dominating for large periods of the match against the Rans, Trevor Morgan’s side were unlucky not to get something out of the game, and aside from Abraham Majok’s second half strike, they were unable to find a way through Macarthur’s tough defensive line.

They’ll face a Berries outfit on a high after an impressive 1-0 win over Mounties last week where they snatched the thee points with a 90th minute winner.

Player-coach Perry Moustakas grabbed what was his fifth goal of the season in that match and looms as the biggest threat to the young Wanderers defence.

The Berries sit in eleventh spot on the ladder but are just four points aside the top four and will be no doubt keen to keep touch with the pack.
