NPL Preview: Wanderers vs Bankstown City

The Western Sydney Wanderers will host Bankstown City at Sydney United Sports Centre this Saturday and will be looking to build on the momentum from last round’s epic victory.

After being down 3-1 at half time, the Red & Black fought back to score three goals in the second half with 16-year-old Mohamed Najjar grabbing the winner in stoppage time.

Meanwhile, opponents Bankstown City are coming off a narrow 1-0 loss to local rivals Bankstown Berries.

Despite Bankstown occupying the last place on the NPL 2 table, they have players with the ability to trouble the Wanderers defence.

City’s striker Nikola Todoroski has found the net eight times this season whilst winger Huseyin Jasli has chipped in with six goals.

Wanderers striker Emmanuel Gonzalez is one to watch after netting two goals last week.

Gonzalez made the switch to the Red & Black from cross-town rivals Sydney FC in the off-season. He is now joint-top scorer for the Wanderers NPL 2 side joining Kyle Cimenti and Abraham Majok on four goals this season.

Mohamed Najjar is another player to look out for.

Impressive performances for the U18s team last year saw him promoted to 1st grade late in the season and he finished 2016 on a high when he scored in the NPL 2 1st Grade Grand Final against Sydney FC.

When these two sides met back in Round 2, the Wanderers ended up with a comfortable 5-1 victory.

Mario Shabow, Ramy Najjarine, Abraham Majok, Oliver Puflett and Liam Youlley all got on the scoresheet for the Wanderers that night.

Entry to the match is FREE for all Wanderers members, while tickets for non-Members are $10 for adults and $5 for concession card holders.
