NPL Preview: Wanderers vs Macarthur

The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 2 team will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat when they take on Macarthur Rams at Sydney United Sports Centre on Saturday night.

The last time the Wanderers faced Macarthur, the Red & Black secured all three points in a 4-0 victory thanks to goals from John Roberts, Thomas Aquilina, Marley Peterson and Mohamed Adam.

Macarthur are currently in 11th place on the NPL 2 ladder, but the Wanderers can’t afford to take them lightly. On the weekend, the Rams pushed title contenders North Shore Mariners all the way before losing 2-1.

For the Red & Black, Marley Peterson is expected to once again be one of the main attacking threats.

The 20-year-old joined the Wanderers last year from Manly United and has found the net regularly with 10 goals in 16 games.

Peterson is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, a winger or a centre forward, bringing versatility to the Wanderers attack.

In the Wanderers defence, Noah Pagden has been a solid presence this year, appearing in 15 out of 16 games. Still only 18 year’s old, the centre back is now into his third season with our NPL 2 1st Grade squad.

The former Football NSW Institute player was a part of the Wanderers side that reached the 2019 Foxtel Y-League Grand Final and also has experience with the Young Socceroos.
