The Western Sydney Wanderers will be aiming to cement their spot in the top two of the NPL 2 ladder when they take on Central Coast Mariners this Saturday night at Blacktown Football Park.

The Wanderers kept the pressure on league leaders Marconi Stallions with after a 5-2 thumping of St George FC 5-2 last week.

Goals from Oliver Pufflet, Mathieu Cordier, Emmanuel Gonzalez and a double from Kosta Grozos sealed an emphatic win for Trevor Morgan’s side, who sit just two points behind the Stallions.

The Red & Black will be looking to pick up their sixth win of the season against fellow Academy side Central Coast Mariners, who sit second from bottom on the ladder.

The Mariners are coming off a 2-2 draw with Bankstown Berries thanks to a double from Reece Papadimitrios and they’ll be hoping to cause an upset and add to the seven points they’ve collected so far.

The two sides will be quite familiar with one another, as both sides feature a large number of players who competed in the Foxtel National Youth League last season.

In the two meetings between the pair in that season, the points were shared on the first occassion in a 1-1 draw while the Mariners picked up the three points the second time around with a 3-1 win.
