NPL Preview: Wanderers vs Mounties

The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 2 team will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday night when they take on Mounties at Sydney United Sports Centre.

The previous meeting between the two sides saw the Wanderers defeat Mounties 3-0 with Lachlan Scott, Mohamed Adam and Samuel Silvera all getting onto the scoresheet.

Mounties, whose squad has former Wanderers Academy players Abdelrahman Kuku and Jack Groeneveld are currently in 9th place.

The outfit from south-west Sydney have been in decent form with only one loss in their last six games.

The Wanderers will need to watch out for Spanish striker Juan Carlos Romero who has scored 20 goals in 17 games this season including two in their most recent game, 5-0 win over Parramatta FC.

For the Red & Black, Mohamed Adam will be a player to keep an eye on. Adam joined the Wanderers in 2017 after playing junior football for Marconi Stallions, where he scored 50 goals in two seasons.

The 17-year old forward was impressive during the 2017/18 Y-League season, scoring four goals in nine games, and has also registered his fifth goal of the 2018 NPL 2 season in our previous game against Rydalmere.

Mohamed Al Taay is another player who has been impressing recently. After previously playing for Marconi and Blacktown City, Al Taay signed for the Wanderers in 2017.

Able to play in either defence or midfield, the 18-year-old is now a regular in the club’s NPL 2 first grade side after progressing from the U20s last year.

Entry to Saturday night’s match is free for all Wanderers members.
